Minister of Foreign Affairs D. Tsogtbaatar paid an official visit to North Korea from February 3 through 5, at the invitation of North Korean Foreign Affairs Minister Ri Yong Ho.
During the visit, Tsogtbaatar met with President of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly of North Korea and held discussions with his counterpart, Ri Yong Ho.
The sides agreed to commemorate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2018, including organizing an academic conference, photography exhibition, cultural festivals, and more.
The two foreign ministers also talked about strengthening relations and cooperation in the region. Minister Ri said that North Korea supports the Ulaanbaatar Dialogue, an initiative on Northeast Asian Security being led by Mongolia.
Minister D. Tsogtbaatar noted that North Korean participation in the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics is important in stabilizing relations in the region.
