The opening ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympics was held at the PyeongChang Olympic Stadium in PyeongChang, South Korea on 9 February 2018.
The Mongolian team in PyeongChang consists of twelve members, including Achbadrakh B. and Otgontsetseg Ch., both speed skaters. Khash-Erdene Kh. will be working as the trainer of the athletes.
Other members of the Mongolian team are Tsogzolmaa Ts., Minister of Education, Culture, Science, and Sports; her consultant and officials of Mongolian National Olympic Committee (MNOC) and Mongolian Skiing Association.
The Mongolian team is led by Bat-Erdene B., member of the Mongolian Parliament and the Executive Council of MNOC as well.
The number of Mongolian delegations (nine) compared to the number of athletes and the trainer (two athletes and one trainer) attracted public attention and criticism. Following this incident, MNOC issued an official statement regarding each of the delegation's duties in Korea and respective organizations covering the travel costs.
