During a visit to the People’s republic of China in February, Mongolian President Kh. Battulga announced that Mongolia will donate 30,000 sheep to China. The Chinese side requested to take these sheep alive, and Mongolian side agreed to divide them according to a
certain schedule.
T. Battsetseg, Director of the Neighbor Countries Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said “After the President paid a business visit to China, we agreed with the Chinese party to hand over 30,000 sheep after the infectious disease became slow and sheep have gained weight. Now we are collecting 30,000 sheep and enforcing the quarantine. The Minister of Food and Agriculture introduced the issue at a cabinet meeting last week. It is planned to transfer the first delivery of sheep by September”.
After the news was published in the media, the public expressed their opinion “It is right to give only male sheep to China and not to give breeding animals”.
