S.Tserenchimed wins silver at World Wrestling Championships

The 2024 World Wrestling Championships for non-Olympic weight categories continues in Tirana, Albania. And Mongolian wrestler Tserenchimed Sukhee claimed a silver medal in the women's -59 kg category last night.

S.Tserenchimed defeated Mexico's Alejandra Rivera Arraiga with a dominant 10-0 win in the preliminaries and advanced with an 8-8 tie on points against Canada's Laurence Beauregard in the round of 16. She then defeated Azerbaijan's Alyona Kolesnik 9-0 in the quarterfinals and overcame India's Mansi Mansi 4-1 in the semifinals. In the final, however, S.Tserenchimed lost to Japan's Risako Kinjo with a score of 4-2, taking home the silver.

In other matches, Kendra Augustine from France defeated Mongolia's Enkhjin Tuvshinjargal in the women’s -65 kg category, although Enkhjin later exited the tournament with a 7-2 loss to India’s Manisha. In addition, Bolortungalag Zorigt finished fifth in the -72 kg category after a 2-0 loss to Adela Hanzlikova of the Czech Republic in the bronze medal match.
 

Meanwhile, Otgontuya Chinbold, who previously won bronze at the U23 Wrestling World Championships, competed in the -55 kg category but was eliminated in the round of 16, losing 4-3 to Ukraine’s Oleksandra Khomenets.
