The National Naadam Festival officially began, drawing thousands of people to the Central Stadium to witness the opening ceremony. Among them were many foreign tourists. Some took photos, while others wore traditional Mongolian deels and immersed themselves in the festive atmosphere.
For many, it was their first time attending Naadam, and they shared that they were eager to learn more about Mongolia’s culture and traditions. We spoke with some of them to hear their impressions.
Polish tourists, Maya and Anna:
It was one of the best festivals I have ever been to. It’s quite interesting and there’s so much going on. I didn’t even know where to look. It’s amazing. So much happening, everything was moving. It exceeded our expectations.
We haven’t seen much yet. But we are horsey people, so I think we’ll enjoy the horse racing most.
-Would you recommend this Naadam Festival to other tourists?
-Yes, of course. Definitely. It was one of the most experiential, full festivals. It was like a little Olympics.
Spanish tourists, Guillermo and Iker:
It was amazing. Like the Olympic Games. All the show, the songs, the horses, everything was amazing. The dress, the people, how they were dancing to the musicь it was really amazing.
We tried khuushuur. It was really great. We really liked the Mongolian meat.
Tonight, we’re taking a flight to southern Mongolia. Then we’ll travel to the Gobi Desert and other natural places. We’re with a group on a planned trip to see Naadam and explore the country.
Yesterday we went to the horse racing. It was really amazing. We’ll definitely recommend Naadam to other tourists. It was a great experience. I even cried a little.
Serbian artist Bransha:
It’s my first time in Mongolia. It was always my dream to visit Mongolia, especially during Naadam. I’m actually an artist and I participated in the Ara Festival in the countryside.
After that, I decided to stay a bit longer to see more. Mongolian people are so welcoming and kind. It’s really a dream come true to be here.
I did an art installation that you can still see in the Ara camp. It was just a few days ago and also a wonderful experience.
