I believe the Year of the Horse is about momentum and progress. In the year ahead, we aim to advance our partnership with Mongolia by further strengthening people-to-people links, and delivering tangible benefits for both our countries. We also look to deepen cooperation through education, skills development and cultural exchange.
On a personal note, I hope to see more of Mongolia, both officially and privately, in the New Year – its beautiful landscapes, rich culture and wonderful food.

This year, Mongolia’s Tsagaan Sar and China’s Spring Festival fall just one day apart, and the two countries are about to welcome the Year of the Fire Horse together. The horse symbolizes courage, wisdom, and resilience. The Fire Horse year, which comes once every 60 years, carries the auspicious meaning in both Chinese and Mongolian cultures of forging bravely ahead and striving upward.
On the occasion of the arrival of the Year of the Fire Horse, I sincerely wish that the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Mongolia will gallop forward like swift steeds and achieve all its goals without obstacles. I also extend my heartfelt wishes to all Mongolian friends for good fortune, strong health, and abundant happiness in the Year of the Fire Horse.
What are you aiming for in the upcoming Year of the Horse?
Over the past year, the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Mongolia has continued to deepen, and cooperation across all sectors has achieved fruitful results. In particular, amid a complex and rapidly changing international environment, bilateral trade has demonstrated remarkable stability and resilience, revealing enormous potential for development. In the Year of the Fire Horse, I would like to highlight three expectations for the future development of China–Mongolia relations.
First, strengthening strategic alignment.
This year marks the first year of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan. Mongolia has also adopted its new five-year development plan. We hope that the two plans will be closely aligned, enabling both countries to achieve mutual success and develop together. Next month, the sessions of the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference will deliberate and adopt the 15th Five-Year Plan, which will present Mongolia with a clearer “list of opportunities.” I invite our Mongolian friends to pay close attention to this.
Second, steadily advancing cooperative projects.
Last year saw notable progress in major bilateral projects. Construction began on the cross-border railway linking Gantsmod and Gashuunsukhait, meaning that the two countries will soon have their second cross-border railway in 70 years. The Erdeneburen Hydropower Plant project has commenced, which will effectively meet the electricity needs of thousands of households in the western region. The redevelopment housing project for 1,008 households in ger districts has been completed and handed over. Projects such as the sports complex named after the heads of state of the two countries are also planned to begin this year. The Chinese side stands ready to work with Mongolia to implement these projects in a practical manner and inject greater momentum into the modernization and development of both countries.
Third, increasing support for improving people’s livelihoods.
I was delighted to see Mongolian friends who had undergone cataract and congenital heart disease surgeries in China at the Spring Festival reception recently hosted by the Embassy, and to learn that their recovery has been very successful. China will continue to provide assistance to Mongolian citizens in need of medical treatment.
I also visited the home of Enkhsaikhan in a ger district area, who told me that thanks to the newly installed solar heating system, his family now enjoys a cleaner, warmer, and more comfortable life. With support from China, more than 500 additional households will similarly benefit.
Furthermore, in cooperation with United Nations agencies, China is working to enhance herders’ capacity to adapt to climate change, improve soil management capacity, and strengthen sanitary conditions for school-age girls, thereby supporting Mongolia in achieving its Sustainable Development Goals.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all sectors in Mongolia that have actively supported my work. I will continue to fulfill my responsibilities in building a China–Mongolia community with a shared future and strive to achieve even more fruitful outcomes in bilateral relations.

In the past Year of the Snake, Hungary and Mongolia celebrated the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, marking a wonderful year of expanded cooperation in culture, education, and science.
In recent years, we have placed special focus on increasing bilateral trade. As a result, over the past three years, the volume of goods exported from Hungary to Mongolia has grown significantly. In the field of education, under the continuously implemented Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program, 1,500 students are currently studying in Hungary. Additionally, 146 students are enrolled in Hungary under Mongolia’s Presidential “Mission 2100” program.
The Hungarian company Mozaik Kiadó, in partnership with Mongolia’s Mozaun, has successfully introduced the Mozaik digital platform into Mongolia’s education system. For the 2025–2026 academic year, teachers and students in public general education schools will have access to internationally recognized digital content and e-textbooks. Furthermore, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Hungarian Studies and Mongolia’s Academy of Sciences’ Archaeology Institute have successfully continued excavations of the Xiongnu royal tombs at Ar Gunt.
In 2026, we aim to further deepen cooperation between the two countries’ Academies of Sciences. At the same time, we plan to focus on agriculture, the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, and expanding provincial and local-level relations.
I am confident that in the incoming Year of the Horse, relations and cooperation between our two countries will continue to grow and flourish.

In the past Year of the Wood Snake, at the invitation of H.E. President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan paid a successful state visit to Mongolia. During their eight-day visit, the warm and heartfelt welcome from the people of Mongolia created unforgettable and deeply moving memories for us. During the visit, Their Majesties engaged kindly with citizens, especially children and youth, and their simple, smiling demeanor reflected the genuine respect and warmth with which they regard Mongolia. Daily coverage of the visit in both countries’ media helped deepen mutual understanding and bring our peoples closer together. I sincerely thank everyone who supported and hosted the visit with such warmth and hospitality.
This visit, etched in golden letters in the history of our bilateral relations, not only reaffirmed the close cooperation across all sectors built by many over the years, but also inspires confidence that the youth of both countries will continue to lead and illuminate the future of our partnership.
What are you aiming for in the upcoming Year of the Horse?
This year, we will work with even greater effort to expand and deepen Japan–Mongolia relations across multiple sectors. In particular, we aim to support our youth and strengthen “people-centered” cooperation, thereby realizing the “Special Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity” between our countries and contributing to peace and development in the region and the world.
The Year of the Fire Horse arrives in 2026. Historically, Mongolians have revered the horse as a companion in life and daily work, and as a symbol of strength, vitality, freedom, and prosperity. This is a special occasion for the Mongolian people, symbolizing the arrival of spring, the renewal of nature, and people’s hopes for the future. It brings the warmth and joy of family celebrations, reflects the unity of the Mongolian nation, and highlights its unique identity and the enduring traditions passed down through generations.
I know that people across Mongolia look forward to this nationwide holiday as an opportunity to spend time with relatives, loved ones, and friends, exchange gifts, and enjoy traditional Mongolian dishes in a warm and welcoming family atmosphere.

What are your goals for the upcoming Year of the Horse?
My goals as the Ambassador of Russia remain consistent and do not depend on the year ahead. First and foremost, this involves continuing systematic efforts to promote Russian interests in Mongolia, as well as doing everything possible to further develop the comprehensive Russian–Mongolian dialogue, identify areas of mutual interest, and find solutions to long-standing issues that hinder practical cooperation.
Together with our Mongolian friends, I also plan to devote special attention to the joint celebration of significant milestones in the history of our two countries. These include the 105th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Russian House in Ulaanbaatar — formerly known as the House of Soviet Science and Culture (HSSC) and later as the Russian Center of Science and Culture (RCSC) — as well as the 45th anniversary of the Soviet–Mongolian spaceflight and other commemorative dates.
As for my personal goals, I would like to visit those Mongolian aimags that I have not yet had the opportunity to travel to, learn more about the life, traditions, and culture of the friendly Mongolian people, and see with my own eyes the natural landmarks about which I have heard so much.

Last year, Korea and Mongolia proudly commemorated the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Since 1990, our two countries have broadened cooperation across diverse fields— including politics, economy, society, and culture—culminating in the elevation of our relationship to a Strategic Partnership in 2021.
Robust people-to-people exchanges have long served as the backbone of our relationship, fostering friendship and mutual understanding between our two nations. Various initiatives under Korea’s official development assistance, led by KOICA, have also made significant contributions to Mongolia’s sustainable development and to the deepening of our bilateral cooperation.
One of my key goals this year is to further advance business partnerships that will create new success stories between Korea and Mongolia, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare, and the livestock industry. I am confident that these efforts will lay a solid foundation for elevating our economic collaboration to new heights.

It symbolizes change, transformation, new beginnings, growth, and opportunities, qualities that I think reflect the dynamic partnership between the United States and Mongolia. May the Year of the Red Fire Horse bring health, happiness, and success to you and your families!
What are you aiming for in the upcoming Year of the Horse?
This is an extraordinary year for both our nations. This year, the United States will celebrate “Freedom 250”, the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. We have many plans to mark this momentous occasion. Mongolia will also celebrate the 820th anniversary of the Mongol Empire, a remarkable milestone in world history. The U.S. Embassy looks forward to collaborating with our Mongolian friends to honor these two significant anniversaries and highlighting the enduring partnership between our two nations.
I'm thrilled to announce that the $462 million Ulaanbaatar Water Compact, funded by the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation, will be completed by March 31st. This transformative project includes developing new downstream wells, wastewater recycling, and measures to ensure long-term water sector sustainability for the capital city and its residents.
In economic cooperation, this year we saw United Airlines become the first U.S. airline to serve Mongolia. We look forward to working with Mongolian partners to expand trade and investment opportunities. Also, this past month, Mongolia participated in the Critical Minerals Ministerial hosted by our Secretary of State. This year, we are eager to work with partners such as Mongolia to build secure and resilient critical mineral supply chains.
Our security partnership remains strong. Khaan Quest will take place again this year, continuing our longstanding cooperation in support of UN peacekeeping operations.
Looking ahead, we're already preparing to celebrate the 40th anniversary of U.S.-Mongolia bilateral relations in January 2027.
Across all these endeavors, we remain committed to strengthening the ties between the people and governments of our two countries in this auspicious Year of the Horse.
