Ministry of Foreign Affairs hold "Hour of Information"

June 7, Tuesday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs hold their regular "Hour of Information" and meet with reporters.

During the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Purevsuren gave information on number of developments that happened last week. FM L.Purevsuren highlighted U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry's official visit to Mongolia on June 5. Overall the official talks went successfully and touched number of areas such as second impact of Millenium Challange Corporation, intensifying trade and economic relations and ease of travel for Mongolians to the United States. "Mongolia sees U.S. as an important third neighbor states but US investment in Mongolia is rather small compared to their economy" minister L.Purevsuren said.

The minister also noted parliament speaker Z.Enkhbold's visit to Japan accompanied by Minister of Labor G.Bayarsaikhan; Minister of Mining Jigjid and other government officials, where they signed official documents to send 100 thousand labour force to Japan in upskilling training and promoting clean coal technology which Mongolia will benefit in the future to develop and diversify industries in Mongolia. In 2017, Mongolia-Japan will celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Another development was the visit of Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Mr. Ibrahim Rahimpour to Mongolia. Meeting between FM L.Purevsuren and Deputy FM Ibrahim Rahimpour touched many areas and the two sides reached number of decisions to cooperate in political, economic, trade and education sectors. Iran side expressed their interest to buy meat from Mongolia and two humped camel. There was also photo exhibition themed "Mongolia-Iran Relations - in the past and present". Previously, economic and trade negotiations were not possible due to UN sanction on Iran which was removed in January 16, 2016.

Additionally, Minister L.Purevsuren said 12th ASEM Finance Ministers' Meeting which will take place on June 9-10 will be the 3rd side events of 11th ASEM Summit and delegations will come to Mongolia starting tomorrow. Mongolia-Russia-China trilateral economic corridor summit will take place on June 23 in Tashkent. All preparations are completed and green light to sign official documents are given to minister L.Purevsuren.
