Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Oyu Tolgoi has awarded 30 scholarships for students, studying in the mining-related, electrical and mechanical engineering field. Students were congratulated in an annual award ceremony to receive domestic scholarships from Oyu Tolgoi for the academic year 2017-2018. Within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Mongolian Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, and Oyu Tolgoi LLC signed in June 2010, Oyu Tolgoi successfully fulfilled its commitments by awarding Domestic scholarships to 260 students and International scholarships to 30 students between 2010 and 2015, and is continuing the Domestic scholarship programme from 2016 on its sole initiative.
Besides the programmes designed for university students, we have launched in 2013 the “Youth Development Programme” for interpersonal and leadership development of high school students and Oyu Tolgoi scholarship holders. As of today, a total of 734 students were involved in this programme. “Graduate Development Programme” was started at Oyu Tolgoi in 2011, and to date, we have 113 young engineers and professionals who participated in our programme.
