On April 16, a forum to understand the situation of Mongolians living abroad, and Mongolians who are returning to their homeland, and to discuss the possibility of using their knowledge, resources, and skills as a lever for the development of Mongolia was held.
The National Statistics Committee conducted a study to determine the problems faced by Mongolians living abroad, their plans to return to their homeland, and their effects on their households.
In the study, 1865 citizens who have lived in 18 countries for six months or more participated. And the participants have an average income of MNT 6.5 million, men have an income of MNT 7.6 million, and women have an income of MNT 5.8 million. The countries with the highest average monthly income include the United States, Australia and European countries. While the countries with the lowest average monthly income include Japan (₮4.4 million), Turkey (₮3.4 million), and the Czech Republic (₮3.2 million).
The minimum monthly income of the citizens is MNT 1 million and the maximum monthly income is MNT 37.3 million.
According to the highlights of the study, participants of the study are working as follows:
25.7% are specialists,
17.8% are ordinary occupation,
13.2% are qualified workers in agriculture, forestry, and fishing,
9.4% are workers in production, construction, handicrafts, related jobs and services.
According to the census made in 2020, over 113 thousand citizens of Mongolia are living abroad.
