On September 6, 2024, B.Purevdorj, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament and Head of the Mongolian-French parliamentary group, met with Philippe Mouiller, member of the French Senate and Chairman of the French-Mongolian Parliamentary Group, along with other representatives from the French Senate.
During the meeting, B.Purevdorj emphasized the successful completion of Mongolia’s parliamentary elections and the establishment of a 126-member parliament, which includes five political parties and a three-party coalition government. He highlighted the improved gender representation in the parliament, with women now making up 25% of its members.
Purevdorj also underscored Mongolia’s close ties with France, referring to the country as a "third neighbor" and a reliable partner. He expressed excitement about the upcoming 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and France in 2025, and both sides noted the recent progress in various areas of cooperation.
Philippe Mouiller, speaking on behalf of the French Senate, thanked B.Purevdorj for his warm welcome and expressed his confidence in the continued strengthening of relations between the two countries. He noted that the French-Mongolian Friendship Group, active since 1992, has consistently contributed to building these ties. Following the 2023 Senate elections in France, the group was reestablished with 28 members.
Both parties discussed further enhancing bilateral relations through economic and investment opportunities and practical cooperation in priority sectors. They also exchanged views on implementing previously negotiated agreements between the two nations. The meeting highlighted the vital role of parliamentary friendship groups in fostering mutual trust and advancing joint efforts between Mongolia and France.
