The National Agency for Meteorology and the Environmental Monitoring has assessed the capital’s green zones as being at "very high" and "high" risk for forest and steppe fires.
In response, the Governor of Ulaanbaatar has issued Decree No. A/373, titled "Measures to prevent forest and steppe fires". The decree prohibits the following activities from March 28 to June 10, and from September 20 to November 10:
- Walking and hiking in the mountains
- Organizing graduation ceremonies
- Making open fires
- Using forest resources in the capital’s green zones
This year, authorities have recorded 32 cases of yellow grass fires in the capital, all caused by careless human activity. Officials urge citizens to strictly adhere to fire prevention measures to protect the environment and public safety.
