Inflation reached 14.5% due to price increase of bread, flour, rice, and fuel

The National Statistics Office of Mongolia presents the social and economic indicators of Mongolia of the initial 11 months of 2022.

In November 2022, the price of consumer goods and services increased by 14.5% from the same period of the previous year, by 12.1% from the end of the previous year, and by 1.1% from the previous month.

Followings influenced that prices of consumer goods and services increased by 14.5% in November 2022 compared to the same period last year:

  • Price of food, beverage, and water by 16.8% (non-alcoholic beverage by 24.5%)
  • Alcohol and cigarettes by 8%
  • Clothing, textiles, and footwear by 19.4%
  • Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel groups by 16.6%
  • Medicine and medical service by 21.4%
  • Transportation by 7.7%  

The inflation rate, or the price of consumer goods and services, was 11.0% in November 2021, and 14.5% in November 2022, an increase of 3.5% points from the same period last year. 51% of the total increase is because of the price increase of imported goods.
