AN-2 biplane to be built in Mongolia
Ministry of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia is holding an open day at the central square on May 24-25. The event is presenting the upcoming projects and programs, as well as some new advanced technologies in road, air and railway transport sectors. At the event, new vehicle registration plates is issued while the public transportation card “U-Money” is sold.

Furthermore, the exhibition displayed a remodeled version of Antonov AN-2 biplane. This plane was the most commonly used aircraft in the 1970’s and this new version "TVS-2MS" was created by "Rusaviaprom". According to the Minister of Road and Transport Development D.Ganbat, negotiations were made with Russia to use the biplane to exterminate industrial pests, extinguish fires and provide medical services.  As the ministry’s experiment, a plane will make test flights in over 70 soums of 18 aimags. If the results are positive, the ministry is planning to build the plane domestically.

Also, Mongolian private entities are manufacturing eco busses and cars and some creations of the students of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, such as an eco-friendly car is being displayed at the event. On the side note, cars manufactured in Mongolia will be provided as taxis to the new international airport in Khushugtiin Khundii, which is expected to open in 2018.
