India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, who is on an official visit to Mongolia at the invitation of Foreign Minister B.Battsetseg, visited the site of the oil refinery being built with a concessional loan from the Government of India and reviewed the progress of the project.
The refinery is under construction in Sainshand, Dornogovi province.
During the visit, D.Altantsetseg, Executive Director of the Mongol Oil Refinery Plant State-Owned LLC, briefed the Minister on the project's progress and upcoming work plans. She noted that the refinery’s equipment, components, and steel structures have already been delivered to the site and installation work is underway.
D.Altantsetseg highlighted that the refinery’s main distillation column arrived at the construction site at the end of last month and assembly has begun. The column stands 58.4 meters tall, has a diameter of 3.2 meters, and weighs 245 tons. Construction of the 520-kilometer crude oil pipeline is nearly 90% complete.
After receiving the briefing, Dr. Jaishankar expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project and reaffirmed India’s full support and cooperation to ensure its successful completion within the planned timeframe. He noted that the refinery project is a significant symbol of the Mongolia–India Strategic Partnership.
