43,000 passenger cars imported in the first half of 2026

In the first half of this year, Mongolia traded with 150 countries, with total foreign trade turnover reaching USD 16.5 billion. Exports amounted to USD 10.4 billion, while imports totaled USD 6.1 billion, resulting in a surplus of USD 4.3 billion.

In 2015-2025, Mongolia imported 720,000 passenger cars, 210,000 trucks, and more than 15,000 public transport vehicles.

In the first half of 2026 alone, 43,000 passenger cars, 10,000 trucks, and 615 public transport vehicles were imported.

Passenger cars accounted for 76.3% of Mongolia’s imports from Japan, while trucks accounted for 5.7% of imports from China.

Total imports increased by 10.6%, or USD 588.1 million, compared with the same period last year.
