On April 5, T.Munkhsaikhan, Advisor to the President of Mongolia on Health, Sports and Social Policy, held a meeting with Sergey Diorditsa, WHO Resident Representative in Mongolia.
During the meeting, two parties exchanged views on cooperation in ensuring the implementation of the Decree of the President of Mongolia “Giving Direction to the Government” to reduce alcohol consumption.
T.Munkhsaikhan introduced that certain policy measures will be taken to reduce the consumption of alcohol based on international experience and research results.
Sergei Diorditsa said that other countries in the world have a long-term policy to reduce alcohol consumption, and he complimented that the President of Mongolia issued a decree related to this. He also expressed his readiness to cooperate in the implementation of the decree, to provide professional and methodological advice and support to reduce alcohol consumption and its negative consequences, which are one of the fundamental issues affecting the health of the population.
