Installation of 72 solar panels on the roof of General Education School No.49 in the capital is complete, making it the city’s first school to fully replace its electricity consumption with on-site renewable energy.
The school previously spent MNT 2–3 million per month on electricity, paid from the district budget. By switching to solar, School No.49 now saves that monthly cost and has become largely independent of the central power supply. Officials say the system also generates occasional excess power that can be fed into the central grid.
N.Manduul, Governor of Chingeltei District, said the project increases the school’s energy security and reduces operating costs while demonstrating a model for other institutions to follow.
