UN to support COP17 to be held in Mongolia in 2026

The United Nations will support the organization of the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) which will be held in Mongolia in 2026.

On December 3, B.Bat-Erdene, the Minister of Environment and Tourism, held a meeting with Ibraham Thiaw, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.

At the meeting, Executive Secretary Ibraham Thiaw conveyed the President's invitation to visit Mongolia in 2024. He agreed to visit Mongolia in 2024, expand cooperation and provide all-round support to preparations for COP17 which will be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in 2026.

Mongolian party discussed issues related to grasslands and Gobi steppe areas and yellow dust storms as priorities, and advised on the effectiveness of demonstrating leadership in international cooperation.
