Two people injured by electric shock after power line collapse into water

On August 21, 2025, police received an emergency call reporting two people lying in pooled rainwater in Songinokhairkhan district. Emergency responders found an adult and a young child in an area where an electric cable had fallen; both appeared to have sustained electrical shocks.

Authorities warn that continuing heavy rains increase the risk of electrical hazards where water and downed power lines meet. Residents are urged to exercise extreme caution near flooded areas and exposed electrical equipment.

Safety guidance from emergency services include, keep away from standing water near downed or exposed power lines, switch off the power at the source before approaching, call emergency services immediately if you see a downed line or someone injured, and inspect your home and yard for exposed wiring and damaged outdoor cables; avoid contact and report hazards promptly.

To report exposed power lines, call 7004-7004. To report damaged or leaning lighting poles, call 1131-0005.
