Above words were spoken by nature photographer B.Bayar. He started pursuing his hobby back in 2007 and received number of awards such as Viewers Choice in 2013 at Mongolian Photography exhibition in Japan, First place award in 2012 at “Express Photo” in Natural Photography category.
Previously you mentioned that you have found yourself?
Indeed. I have found myself. I can’t imagine any other thing that I can feel so much satisfaction and relaxation.
Since when have you started with your hobby?
I have started taking photos seven years ago. I am an economist myself. And lately I am more interested in freelancing.
Why do you get interested in photography?
Since my student years I was interested in taking photos and even had a mini lab to do the negatives. In 2000 I took part in Zig Zag Travel and unfortunately didn’t manage to take any pictures, Since then instead of regretting I decided to buy my first camera with USD 1000 a Nikon D70. I started taking pictures and when my family started to appreciate my pictures I got more and more enthused. I always liked travelling and taking pictures.
You mostly take pictures of nature and you also share your photos on your Facebook account.
As you said I am more into natural photography, I don’t have enough skills for portraits or sports photography. I guess one has to learn for many years and acquire skills for those types for many years. For me I am just starting. I think people better relate to pictures of nature. Therefore I post my picture on my Facebook, I want to share these beautiful places with others and also give the motivation to young starters as well. For instance, many claim it is impossible to take photo against the sunlight, but somehow I managed to.
What is the color of life?
Life is very meaningful and has the most beautiful color. If you want a color association, it would be the color of a rainbow. Why not living your life in such a bright and strong way? Nowadays, there are many young people having interest in photography, I have many younger friends who like to come with me to do the shots. I would recommend them to never stop learning and follow the great photographers to learn from their skills as well.
It seems like you need a lot of money, first one need to buy expensive camera and then have means to travel around.
I usually go to Tibet or other places. People might think that I have a lot of money. Last January I went to Japan, Canada and US and not so long after that went to western European countries. For me I just need to pay for my tickets and whenever I go I have friends and others who are interested in photography and we all go together on our journey. So it helps to save a lot. It is more about the passion, not the money. Of course you need money, my one trip usually takes around USD 1000.
Seeing your pictures triggers the desire to get up and travel around Mongolia. I think it is better to travel around Mongolia before one praises foreign countries.
I had the same thought. Looking back I have been to 57 cities of 29 countries. One day I thought that I need to travel around Mongolia and since then I started travels in Mongolia. Although I go somewhere every year, I haven’t been to every place here. I plan travel with friends in Western aimags.
I think photographers have an eye for everything. They are like always in search.
You are quite right. I look for ideas everywhere.
Probably your thoughts are full of positive attitude?
Traveling through the natural beautiful sites helps to relax more and I get energized.
NINE PHOTOGRAPHS THAT COST ME SWEAT AND EFFORT
Gobi Storm. This picture I shot during my travel in Dundgobi aimag last July. I was on field trip with my co-workers. I quickly grabbed my camera and had the shot. This is a huge natural phenomenon and I tried to show that only Mongol Ger and Mongolian horse is able to withstand this Gobi storm.
Tsambagarav Mountain. This is the picture of the Snowy Peak west of Tsambagarav Mountain. Plane from UB to Bayan-Ulgii aimag passes over this mountain. I asked the nearby herder to lend me his cattle for this shot, as the shot wouldn’t have become to life without cattle and herder Ger nearby. In order to snap this shot without having the cattle override each other I had to go on roof of my car. It requires a lot of patience and sense to have the right light and shadow.
Niagara Waterfalls. I wanted to see this great site and take photo of it. In 2010 I went to Canada and waited from 6AM to 5PM to get this shot.
Khoton Lake. I have been to Khoton Lake, which is located in Bayan-Ulgii aimag three times. First two attempts of taking photo didn’t go well as there was no snow at the mountains. Last September, when I landed in UB after my trip in US and Canada, my friends called me and told me that there was snow at Khoton Lake. After hearing that I immediately booked my flight to Bayan-Ulgii and been there the next morning.
Altai Tavan Bogd. I spent a night at Kazakh family take this picture early in the morning.
Gobi Mankhan. This picture won me first prize at the Express Photo contest in 2013. Also it was the most viewed photo at the Japan Photography contest. After that event I had a chance to exhibit my photos in three different cities in Japan. I had made huge arrangements to take this photo. I had to negotiate with the owner of the camels. He wanted MNT 5,000 per each camel and he had 19 of them. I agreed and we arranged the shooting at the sunrise at Khongor sands.
Horsehoe. It is located in Arizona, US. I waited for 5 hours for sunset.
Llama Canyon. First I have seen this on the National Geographic magazine and wanted to see the place with my own eyes. I researched the location and decided to go to US.
Edge of Black and White. There is only one door to heaven and hell. Behind the door there is sizzling life, while on the other side there is lifeless state.
