A ceremony took place on Tuesday in the State House to grant cash prize certificates to medalists of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and their coaches.
The certificates were given by J.Erdenebat, the Prime Minister, to D.Sumiya, an Olympic silver medalist in judo; D.Otgondalai, an Olympic bronze medalist in boxing; O.Baljinnyam, chief coach of the national judo team of Mongolia; and D.Batsuren, a chief coach of the national boxing team.
In accordance with a governmental resolution, an Olympic silver medalist will receive a cash prize of MNT 60 million, a bronze medalist--MNT 30 million, while their coaches will receive cash equivalent to half of their athletes’ prizes.
During the ceremony, the Premier congratulated the athletes on winning the Olympic medals on behalf of himself and the government. He wished Mongolian athletes gained more success at the next Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.
