At the invitation of President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh, President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović will pay a state visit to Mongolia on October 8-10, 2026.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Montenegro. President Milatović’s visit will be the first visit by a Montenegrin head of state to Mongolia.
Mongolia and Montenegro established diplomatic relations on November 30, 2006.
During the visit, the two presidents will hold official talks and discuss opportunities to expand cooperation in trade, economic relations, investment, culture, education, science, climate change, and environmental protection.
The heads of state are also expected to brief media representatives on the outcomes of their official talks.
A Joint Declaration and a number of documents aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in the social, economic, educational, cultural, and scientific fields are expected to be signed during the visit.
President U. Khurelsukh previously met with President Jakov Milatović on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. At the meeting, the two leaders discussed opportunities for high-level reciprocal visits and explored ways to expand cooperation in politics, the economy, tourism, education, and culture. They also expressed interest in strengthening cooperation within the international community on issues including climate change and desertification.

Mongolia’s historical interest in Montenegro dates back even further. In 1913, the third issue of Mongolia’s first newspaper, “Shine Toli” (New Mirror), published information about Montenegro, including its territory, population, system of government, and other characteristics.
