This year marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment and development of a modern trade sector in Mongolia. Within the framework of the anniversary, an international scientific conference entitled “Mongolian Trade in 100 Years: Past, Present and Future” was organized on December 15.
The purpose of this conference is to discuss the results of research on the achievements of the trade sector, historical lessons, current situation and prospects, and to develop proposals and recommendations to be reflected in the policy and regulation of the sector.

G.Batsuuri, Deputy Minister of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry, made an opening speech at the conference.

“Trade and food production play an important role in the Mongolian economy, accounting for 30 percent of all businesses and 16 percent of the workforce.
We made a trade with 156 countries, with a total trade turnover of USD 15 billion, increased by 27 percent from previous year. The foreign trade balance showed a surplus of USD 2.6 billion, an increase of 34.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. Although the trade sector is developing, there are issues such as weak legal regulations, not meeting international trade standards, and low productivity of the sector.
I believe this international scientific conference plays main role to summarize the current situation of foreign, domestic and e-commerce trade, to develop the trade sector at a scientific and professional level, to introduce new ideas and innovative results to the public, to exchange experiences and expand cooperation”.

Representatives of government, international and educational organizations, researchers participated in the conference and discussed Mongolia's trade development and future trends. The conference has two main sessions: Trade and Food Production, Services and Nutrition.
