On April 24-28, the World Dog Show 2024, organized annually by FCI, the International Canine Federation, was held in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia.
The team representing Mongolia displayed their traditional Mongolian gers, showed the history of the bankhar dog and wore their national clothes, which attracted the interest of not only dog lovers but also the judges of the competition.
18,350 dogs of 376 breeds from 98 countries participated in the World Dog Show 2024, and it was a special event that the Mongolian bankhar dog, a native breed of Mongolia, competed on the world stage for the first time.
FCI classifies all dogs into 10 groups for the purpose of work and tasks, and dogs of breeds that are not registered in the world but are planned to be registered compete in Group 11.
Three national champion dogs from Mongolia named Khangarid, Toligor and Guyen participated in the World Championship. Out of these, the dog named Khangarid competed in the Group 11 and won the 1st place out of 18 breeds.
In addition, the "Mongol nomad 2024" international dog exhibition and competition will be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on June 14-16.
