The Board of Directors of the Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) has endorsed G.Zandanshatar as the next Prime Minister, according to board member Ch.Khurelbaatar.
“For the first time since 2016, we are facing a strong adverse party. Working with a strong adverse party is a sign of a healthy democratic process” said Ch.Khurelbaatar.
He emphasized that the new government should be formed from within the Parliament, particularly given the current economic challenges. “Budget revenues are falling short, and we will need to secure significant loans. Foreign exchange reserves are also declining and this is where we must begin,” he noted.
Ch.Khurelbaatar also stated that 14 major national projects need to be reassessed. The appointment of government ministers falls under the Prime Minister’s authority. Until the MPP’s National Conference makes its official decision, it is premature to discuss such appointments.
