PHOTO: "Blue Pearl" ice festival at Khuvsgul Lake

The "Blue Pearl" ice festival, which is organized annually to develop winter tourism in Khuvsgul province, started.

“Blue pearl” ice festival takes place in Khuvsgul province in March annually. In 2000, D.Lkhagvatsogt and J.Tumursukh, former environmental inspectors of the Khuvsgul Special Protected Area, organized an ice festival at the place named after Santiin Uvur to protect Khuvsgul, also known as the Mother Ocean, and to promote winter tourism. And local people participated in a horse race with ten sleighs.

Over 20,000 local and foreign tourists arrived for this year's "Blue Pearl" ice festival. Parking cars is prohibited on the ice of Khuvsgul Lake, and parking spaces are placed at standard distances.

The weather is -5 degrees during the day and -17 degrees at night in Murun, Khuvsgul.
