PM L.Oyun-Erdene meets Minister of Natural Resources of Russian Federation Alexander Kozlov

On August 12, Alexander Kozlov, the Minister of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, and Head of the Russian Section of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation between Mongolia and the Russian Federation, held a meeting with L.Oyun-Erdene, the Prime Minister of Mongolia.

During the meeting, two parties expressed their satisfaction with the active development of relations between the two countries and noted that they are working to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership based on political, economic, educational, cultural and humanitarian relations.

L.Oyun-Erdene, the Prime Minister of Mongolia, noted that the Parliament election of Mongolia was held successfully in June, 2024, and the Mongolian People's Party won the majority of seats in the elections and formed a government together with the Democratic Party and the HUN Party, which is important to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Mongolia and Russia and to maintain the tradition and momentum of cooperation.

Also, the parties noted that they are satisfied that the negotiations on the draft "Agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the Russian Federation on petroleum trade" will be finalized and established in the near future.

They exchanged opinions on concluding a temporary free trade agreement between Mongolia and the Eurasian Economic Union by December of this year, establishing a joint research working group of Mongolian and Russian experts within the framework of intensifying TPP-3 expansion work, Eg River hydro power plant construction project, and establishing quotas for Mongolian students to study in Russia and drawing up a list of necessary professions.

Furthermore, two parties agreed to expand and develop cooperation in mining, energy, road and transport sectors of both sides.
