(Ulaanbaatar) Jan 10, Green Garbage Bag Manufacturers called the press conference on the recent spark of the controversy that those bags were imported from China.
In February 2014 four companies Mongol Khevlel, Mungun Plastic, Multipack and OB Plastic have won the bids for manufacturing the garbage bags to be distributed for residents of Ulaanbaatar city.
O.Amarsaikhan, CEO of OB Plastic, made clarifications on the origin of the green garbage bags, which were claimed to be imported from China.
-We have been manufacturing the garbage bags in 2013 and in 2014 the whole issue with the garbage bags were under fire and it was not clear for us, manufacturers, whether this program will proceed. But in view of the market demand for garbage bags, our company did research on the sizes and types. In this scope we have brought in samples of garbage bags, which we process by stamping, cutting and other processes.
OB Plastic supplied 5,5 million small garbage bags for distribution in UB city worth of MNT 554 million in 2014.
Garbage bags were manufactured by above four companies 22- 28 million pieces in total. The cost per bag ranges at MNT 95-97 and is purchased by City at MNT 100.
Mungun Plastic LLC joined the manufacturing of the garbage bags last year and was in charge of the bags for Ger Area distribution. They have manufactured 7,6 million bags so far. They also confirmed that they only imported the samples, which should not be confused with the final product.
Garbage bag manufacturers invited to their factories in order to see the manufacturing process with own eyes. Moreover, they expressed williness to display customs clearing documents to support their stances.
