Democratic Party begins work toward consecutive victories in 2027 and 2028

Acting Secretary-General of the Democratic Party S.Bayartsogt briefed reporters on the party’s activities and also presented the party’s position on a bill submitted by prominent members to improve the use and efficiency of foreign loans.

S.Bayartsogt said he was appointed acting secretary-general of the Democratic Party and received his seal yesterday. “DP Chairman O.Tsogtgerel invited me to serve in this position. The Political Council supported the decision with 72% of the vote,” he said.

He added that the party chairman had told Political Council members it would be preferable to separate the positions of party chairman and parliamentary group chairman. S.Bayartsogt said the bill on recalling a member of parliament, submitted by the President, was also presented and discussed at the Political Council meeting.

“Our party has a lot of organizational, personnel, and financial work ahead if we are to ensure internal unity and win consecutive victories in 2027 and 2028. I am working as a team with Chairman O.Tsogtgerel to carry out this work and lead our party to victory,” he said.

S.Bayartsogt noted that three members of the Political Council reported on the president’s submitted bill, with one supporting it and one opposing it. An independent research organization also presented its findings.

He said Political Council members agreed that the draft law contains provisions that require further regulation. “For example, there is no mechanism to hold members accountable for corruption and abuse of official power. If we support it as it is, the balance of governance could be disrupted and difficulties may arise. Therefore, we agreed that it should not be supported in its current form. I hold the same position. After that, a working group with representatives from all parties should be established to examine the legal implications".
