State Honored Athlete E.Khaliunbold makes historic result at Dakar Rally

“From the Steppe to Dakar” project athlete, State Honored Athlete of Mongolia and International Master E.Khaliunbold, recorded a historic finish at the 2026 Dakar Rally, placing 16th overall and 6th in the Rally-2 category after the event’s 13 stages.

E.Khaliunbold also received a special “Best Rookie” prize (3rd place), together with a commemorative medal and trophy for his standout debut performance.

Fellow Mongolian competitor International Master P.Murun also performed strongly, finishing 29th overall and 19th in Rally-2.

The 2026 Dakar Rally ran from 3–17 January 2026 over 13 stages and approximately 7,600 km across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Mongolian drivers took another step onto the world motorsport stage at an event watched globally.
