Mongolia’s permanent representative to UNESCO Ts.Munkh-Orgil presents credentials

Mongolia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Ts.Munkh-Orgil, met with UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany on August 28, 2026, and presented his credentials.

During the meeting, Permanent Representative Ts.Munkh-Orgil expressed appreciation for UNESCO’s support in advancing Mongolia’s education, social and natural sciences, and communication sectors, as well as in preserving the country’s cultural and natural heritage and monuments.

He also highlighted the inscription of the “Hunnu Noble Burial Complex” on the UNESCO World Heritage List at the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee in July 2026, describing it as an important milestone in promoting Mongolia’s rich historical and cultural heritage internationally.

The two sides exchanged views on jointly implementing the project “Creating a Series of Volumes on the History of Nomadic Civilizations,” which aims to introduce the history, culture, and traditions of Mongolian nomads to the international community.

The project seeks to highlight the contributions of nomadic peoples to human history and culture while promoting their traditional lifestyles, knowledge, and cultural practices.

UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany congratulated Permanent Representative Ts.Munkh-Orgil on his appointment and expressed his readiness to work closely with Mongolia to further strengthen and develop cooperation between the two sides.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Ts.Munkh-Orgil reaffirmed Mongolia’s commitment to expanding its cooperation with UNESCO and actively contributing to the organization’s goals and activities.
