PHOTO: President hands over medals to rescue team served in Turkey

U.Khurelsukh, the President of Mongolia and Commander-in-Chief of the Mongolian Armed Forces, handed over state medals to officers of the rescue team who performed search, rescue, medical, and humanitarian aid duties in the Republic of Turkey.

35 servicemen who fulfilled the duties and tasks assigned by the government with dignity and at a high level of professionalism were awarded with medals named after "Shudarga Juram", "Tsergiin Khundet" and "Enkhiin Tuluu".

The President of Mongolia expressed his gratitude to the rescue team who protected the lives and health of many people in a highly organized and competent manner under the constant threat and risk of severe weather conditions and earthquakes.

U.Khurelsukh also wished the health, happiness and well-being to the rescue team, their families, children, and work colleagues who are working in the highly responsible and prestigious service. This operation is written in history as the first international search, rescue, medical and humanitarian operation of a large scale, quick and professional level.

During their operation in Turkey, the Mongolian rescue team pulled out eight people (including three children) from the earthquake wreckage and provided first aid to 19 people (including six children). A medical team consisting of 11 military personnel provided medical care and services to 72 children, 359 men, 218 women, and a total of 649 people.
