Located in the Erdenekhairkhan soum of Zavkhan province, "Ulaagchiin Khar Lake” is 110 km from the center of the province and 80 km north of Erdenekhairkhan Soum, and and 1214 km northwest of Ulaanbaatar. There are two ways to get there.
Drive 860 km on highway from Ulaanbaatar city to Telmen soum in Zavkhan province. Then drive 50 km on a dirt road to reach the Lake.
Travelers who have traveled through the western provinces often return to the Lake from Uvs province, and they recommend driving by road to Tsetsen Mountain in Zavkhan province and reach the Lake.
Travelers with sedans are not recommended due to 100 km of sandy road.
Travelers should note that the dirt road leading to Ulaagchiin Khar Lake has a rough road covered with sand on both sides, so it may be risky for a single car or a sedan.
For travelers going directly from Ulaanbaatar, it is advisable to plan their round trip at least 4 days.
