Mongolia Aims at Cement Exports

President of Mongolia proposed using Mongolian word for cement (gakhiur) by reminding that Mongolia is an independent nation with own culture and language during his meeting with the private sector representatives. Many have applauded.

Many Cement Processing Plant CEOs started using the Mongolian term right away in their presentations.

Last April Mongolia launched the Khutul Cement Plant with capacities to provide over 50 percent of the total domestic demand of cement.

Domestic cement demand has been on rise in recent years and reached 2 million tons per annum, of which 2/3 is supplied by import cement. Therefore, financing for Khutul Cement State Owned Company was allocated from Chinggis Bond for expansion and now the plant holds the capacity of 1 million tons per annum, abling the plant to provide 50 percent of the total domestic market demand.

MonCement Plant is being contstructed at Senj Khudag Lime stone deposit with 170 years resources.

This plant is developed by Senj Sant Company, daughter entiity of the Monpolimet LLC in Urgun soum of Dornogobi aimag. The plant is to use dry processing method with planned output of 1 million tons per annum, with aims to export in few years.

The plant provisions revenues of MNT 50 billion and creating over 700 jobs. As there is no cost attributed to the transportation of raw materials, management is quite positive that price for final product to be lower, which in turn will lead the housing prices to decline.
