A 40-member delegation of Mongolian students, supported by 15 educators and official judges, successfully represented the country at the 2nd Joint Junior Geological Olympiad between Mongolia and Russia. The bilateral academic and field competition took place in the Altai Republic of Russia on July 1- July 3, 2026.
The rigorous Olympiad tested young scientists primarily in the fields of geophysics and mineralogy. In the overall team results, the "Kuzbass" team from Russia’s Kemerovo region claimed the top spot. The "Serebryany Krai" team from the Chita region and the local "Altaiskiy Krai" team shared second-place honors in the general standings.
In particular:
In the Paleontology category, the National University of Mongolia took third place
In the Field Camp and Safety category, the Mongolian National University of Science and Technology took third place
In the Geophysics category, the National University of Mongolia took first place
In the Alluvial sampling, the Mongolian National University of Science and Technology took third place /N.Dulguun/
In the Petroleum category, the National University of Mongolia took third place.
