In the scope of celebrating the Constitution Day (January 13th), an official ceremony to present the original version of the Constitution of Mongolia ratified 24 years ago was held in the State Palace today at 11:40 am on January 11, 2016.
Mongolia adopted its new democratic Constitution and the fourth in its history on January 13, 1992 and commemorating the Day, the original version of the Constitution of Mongolia is shown to public at the Statehood History Museum until January 15, 2016.
Present at the ceremony were Chief of Staff of the President of Mongolia P.Tsagaan, Secretary-general of the Parliament Secretariat B.Boldbaatar, Head of Administration and General Service Department of Parliament Secretariat N.Shirendev and other officials.
The Constitution of Mongolia adopted on January 13th went into force on February 12, 1992 and was amended two times in 1999 and 2001 respectively. Moreover, a draft law to amend the latter Constitution was presented on November 6, 2015 and currently in the list of agenda to discuss during the 2015 Autumn plenary session of the State Great Hural (Parliament), which is to end in the first week of February 2016.
The new Constitution established a parliamentary democracy in Mongolia, guaranteeing freedom of religion, rights, travel, expression, unalienable rights, government setup, election cycle and other matters. It consists of six chapters and divided into 70 articles. Previous three Constitutions had been adopted in 1924, 1940 and 1960.
