“Let’s Know and Inform” a month-long campaign to prevent children from becoming a victim of human trafficking, increase the public knowledge on human trafficking related crimes has started.
In April 2020, Governments of Mongolia and the United States signed the U.S.-Mongolia Child Protection Compact Partnership, a four-year plan to fight child trafficking in Mongolia.
In this regard, with financial support of the U.S. State Department, Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, World Vision Mongolia, the Asia Foundation and “Mongol Content” LLC is organizing the “Let’s Know and Inform” campaign to prevent children from becoming a victim of human trafficking crimes.
Matthew Ference, Deputy Chief of Mission, U.S. Embassy in Ulaanbaatar said that he is happy to work together with World Vision, Mongolian Government, and other agencies to raise awareness about human trafficking, to provide safe places for children and for victims of human trafficking.
“One victim of child abuse, child exploitation, and child trafficking is just too many” he said. That is why U.S works with the Mongolian Government and other Governments around the world and within communities in the U.S. and other places to end human trafficking.
“For everything that is good, for example social network, also comes with downside. If it makes you uncomfortable, there is a reason for that, and you should trust your instincts. For example, if someone asks you to send a picture, you should ask someone you trust like your teacher or your parents. And this campaign will give crucial information about what to be aware of when using social media.”
