The Ministry of Health reported a sharp rise in influenza and influenza-like illnesses as of December 1, 2025. Nationwide, 3,401 patients were hospitalized, of whom 3,035 (89.2%) were cases of severe acute respiratory infection, a 38.1% increase from the previous day. The hospitalized group included 72 pregnant women.
In paediatric emergency departments, 3,238 children were admitted; 2,502 (77.3%) of those cases were due to influenza or influenza-like illness, an increase of 37.9% from the day before.
Health services have prepared 2,518 beds nationwide for the surge; 2,135 of those beds have already been set up in the capital.
