The autumn session of Parliament opened yesterday and began debate on the draft law for the 2026 state budget. Prime Minister G.Zandanshatar presented key elements of the budget at the plenary session.
Aligned with monetary policy, the government has set targets for 2026 of 5.7% economic growth, inflation no higher than 7%, and exports of USD 16.7 billion, targets reflected in the budget proposal.
The draft estimates budget revenue at MNT 31.6 trillion and expenditure at MNT 32.98 trillion, leaving a projected deficit of MNT 1.38 trillion.
The Prime Minister said the government aimed to make revenue forecasts realistic and prudent, taking into account external markets, commodity-price trends, and domestic economic risks and opportunities. He stressed that the state budget determines the incomes and living conditions of the nation, funding salaries for doctors, teachers and civil servants, supplying medicines, building schools and kindergartens, and ensuring household warmth. “Every tugrik of taxpayers’ labour must be spent correctly and deliver real benefits to people’s lives”.
