On May 20, within the car-free day, Ulaanbaatar international marathon 2017 was successfully held and attracted approximately 33 thousand people including citizens, countryside residents, expats working and living in Mongolia and world-acknowledged athletes from neighboring countries. The annual international marathon featured four distance categories - 5 km, 10 km, 21km and 42 km.
Kenyan runner Sillas K.Sang won in male 42 km distance category with a success of 2 hours 13 minutes. State honored athlete of Mongolia while International master B.Ser-Od became a winner of male 21 km distance category with a success of 1 hour 3 minutes 34 seconds. International master B.Munkhzaya won female 42 km distance category.
Meanwhile, City Governor`s office in cooperation with Mongolian Youth Association organized cycling parade on this day. Over 1,500 people took part in the cycling parade and called for people to wear helmet regularly. In regards, high-quality helmets were being sold at MNT 20,000 during the parade.
