New solar power plant to be built in Dornogobi

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Triodos Investment Management, and Dutch Development Bank have granted a loan of 31.6 million USD to Desert Solar Power One LLC, a company planning to build a 30 MW solar power plant in Mongolia. EBRD previously reported that construction of the solar power plant, which will be located in Sainshand soum, Dornogobi Province, will commence this year.

The total project cost is estimated to be 47.5 million USD. The plant will become one of the biggest solar power plants in Mongolia and will contribute to achieving the government's goal of having renewable energy account for 20 percent of all energy produced by 2020. EBRD has invested a total of 114 million USD in renewable energy projects in Mongolia.
