62 brown bear sightings and incidents reported over 2 days

A total of 62 reports of brown bear sightings, incursions into residential areas, and attacks on livestock were recorded nationwide on October 10–11, 2026.

Of these, 46 incidents were reported across nine soums in Zavkhan province. In Khuvsgul province, authorities responded to incidents involving three bears that posed a threat to public safety, ensuring the safety of local residents.

Search and monitoring operations were also conducted following reports from Khentii, Darkhan-Uul, and Zavkhan provinces, as well as Ulaanbaatar. A report of a bear sighting in the 24th khoroo of Khan-Uul district in the capital was not confirmed.

Six reports came from state-protected areas, where rangers are conducting patrols and monitoring activities.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and relevant agencies are responding promptly to reports and taking measures to protect public safety.

The Ministry urges citizens not to spread unverified information and to notify the relevant authorities promptly if they encounter a bear.
