Following is the New Year greeting from L.Oyun-Erdene, the Prime Minister of Mongolia.
We, the Mongolians, are celebrating our 30th New Year since the Democratic Constitutional Law was approved. It is true that our generation, who were taught the letter A at the same time as the democratic revolution, are witnesses of the social transition of the past 30 years. Important values such as human rights, private property, free market competition, pluralism, open foreign relations, digital world and civil society had sprouted in Mongolian soil.
Unfortunately, the truth is corruption has reached all levels. Social wealth was unfairly concentrated in the hands of a few people who were close to power and information, political, law enforcement, and economic groups were created around mining, income inequality deepened, an extremely unstable dual government, and a long-term development policy. Therefore, the Government of Mongolia is fighting to preserve the achievements of the past 30 years, correct the mistakes, start the new 30 years right, improve the democratic parliamentary government, eliminate income inequality, and organize the underground economy associated with mining.
The past year 2022 is focused entirely on overcoming the pandemic and international geopolitical crisis and stabilizing the economy. As the Prime Minister of Mongolia, I declare that 2023 will be the year of economic growth.
2023 will be the year of intensifying the New Revival policy. 2023 will be the year when border ports will be fully opened, citizens and businesses will return to their normal lives, consumer goods shortages and price increases will be resolved, exports will increase, and the economy will recover. In the first quarter of 2023, the Oyutolgoi underground mine will be put into operation, and international investment will be actively intensified. In 2023, public transportation of the capital city will be upgraded, the construction of a new ring road around Ulaanbaatar will begin, and the construction of a new city will begin in Khushig Valley. In 2023, the construction of the Erdeneburen hydro power plant and Tavantolgoi power plant will be started, the Amgalan thermal power plant and energy collector will be fully operational, and the energy sector will be restored.
