The 36th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) was held in Egypt on September 1-8, 2024, with top students from around the world competing. Representing Mongolia, four talented students participated in this prestigious event: Onolt Khurtsbilguun, a 12th grader from Nest Education School; Irmuun Chinbat, an 11th grader from Erkhet Science School; Tamir Jamiyangarav, a 12th grader from Javkhlant Complex School, Uliastai, Zavkhan Province; and Erkhem Ganzorig, a 10th grader from Oyunlag School.
Both Onolt Khurtsbilguun and Irmuun Chinbat won bronze medals, with Onolt securing his second bronze at the IOI. The Mongolian team was led by D.Tsedevsuren, executive director of the Informatics Olympiad Committee and head of the Department of Education and Electronic Transition at Mongolian University of Education, while T.Ulambayar, a teacher from MUE's Informatics Department, served as the deputy chief. Ch.Sugardorj, the director of Erkhet Academic School, attended as a guest.
