Powerlifter S.Munkhzul wins gold at World Championships

The 2024 IPF World Powerlifting Open Equipped Championships held in Reykjavik, Iceland, from November 11 to 16. And Mongolian athletes delivered outstanding performances.

Led by D.Battulga, the President of the Mongolian Powerlifting Federation and a State honored coach, Mongolia's team of three male and three female athletes secured an impressive haul of one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.

On the final day, S.Munkhzul made history by winning gold in the women's 84 kg weight category. She lifted 227.5 kg, becoming the first Mongolian woman to claim a gold medal in the adult category at the World Powerlifting Championships. Fellow Mongolian athlete B.Maral also shone in the same category, earning a bronze medal.

Last year, S.Munkhzul was crowned the world champion in the masters division, clinched gold at the Asian, Pacific, and African Championships, and was recognized as the best athlete of the year.
