Kh.Bulgantuya barred from leaving Mongolia

Note: This summary does not replace a court decision; it is intended to inform the public about recent procedural developments.

A court has imposed a preventive measure restricting Kh.Bulgantuya from crossing Mongolia’s border, the District First Instance Circuit Court of Criminal and Civil Simple Procedure.

Background: a lower-court judge earlier declined a prosecutor’s request to open a criminal case against Kh.Bulgantuya on allegations of preparing, organising and participating in an attempt to seize power by force in a supreme state body. The prosecutor filed a complaint against that judge’s order with the chief judge.

On 28 January 2026, the chief judge reviewed the prosecutor’s complaint. Citing the evidence collected in the case and the need to prevent interference with criminal proceedings, the court amended the earlier order and imposed a preventive restriction on leaving the country pending further process.

The summary was prepared by B.Khaliun, Chief Judge of the District First Instance Circuit Court of Criminal and Civil Simple Procedure.
