Mongolian Agency for Standardization and Metrology reported that Technical Requirements of Professional Horse head fiddle has been approved. It is the first Mongolian musical instrument that has been standardized.

Artists used to make music based on their own feelings, but now it has one direction. There is research and analysis behind every standardization”.

Professional Horse Head Fiddle Makers Association was established in 2009, and organized discussions on the standard of professional horse head fiddle. In the last 13 years, the research has been made. Five discussions were held to determine the main factors affecting sound such as size, wood, and materials. As a result of receiving comments from the Mongolian Agency for Standardization and Metrology and professional arts organizations, “Technical Requirements of Professional Horse head fiddle” has been approved.
Horse Head Fiddle is spreading all over the world. As a result, horse head fiddle associations have been established and trainings have been organized. When there is a standard set, it is very helpful for researchers and players who are interested in this music instrument. It is also economical and saves time. Mongolia is the birthplace of the Morin Khuur. Therefore, the Mongolian standard of Horse Head Fiddle will be implemented internationally.
FIRST NATIONAL MUSIC STANDARD SET TO HORSE HEAD FIDDLE

Today, we gave an approved copy of the standard “Technical requirements for professional horse head fiddle” to its developers. In order to approve any standard, the first thing to do is to get feedback on the first draft. There was a wide-ranging discussion on the Horse Head Fiddle standard. It was then discussed and approved by a Technical Committee with 15 members. It is the first standard of national music. Draft standards are open for submission.

- The Horse Head Fiddle standard is a definition of dimensions approved by Mongolian Agency for Standardization and Metrology. The standard is based on a comprehensive study of sound level, materials, parts, and design. By having the standard, the way of further development of the horse head fiddle will be open. It is very helpful in cooperation locally and internationally.
