A joint military training and practice, named after “Road-2022”, between the Mongolian Armed Forces and the Japan Self-Defense Forces is ready to begin for the 12th time. This joint training and practice will be implemented within the framework of the program "Increasing the capacity of the engineering sector of the Armed Forces of Mongolia" under the agreement between the Ministries of Defense of the two countries. The training has been organized annually since 2014.
Ch.Tsogtjargal, Commander of the Land Forces of the Mongolian Armed Forces Brigadier General, stated during the opening ceremony, “Road” joint training and practice plays an important role in the military cooperation of the two countries, and it makes a valuable contribution to strengthening the engineering and military capabilities of Mongolia.
Kobayashi Hiroyuki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia, said, “The learning ability of Mongolian engineer soldiers is very high. In previous years, training was conducted under the guidance and recommendations of Japanese instructors, and Mongolian soldiers will conduct it independently starting from this year. Our trainers will be involved in an advisory role only”.
This time, 20-day training and exercise will be based on the military unit No.014 to build road dams and drainage facilities. In practice, some engineering techniques and equipment supplied by the U.S. Ministry of Defense to the Ministry of Defense of Mongolia with a grant will be put into operation and used.
At the end of the opening ceremony, Kobayashi Hiroyuki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia, met the activities of the Ground Forces Command of the Armed Forces, and exchanged views on further cooperation with Ch.Tsogtjargal, Commander of the Land Forces of the Mongolian Armed Forces Brigadier General.
