On July 21, 2026, N.Uchral, Prime Minister of Mongolia, held a meeting with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to exchange views on a wide range of bilateral issues and explore opportunities to further strengthen cooperation.
Prime Minister N.Uchral thanked President Rahmon for making a state visit to Mongolia, noting that the visit marks an important milestone in elevating the traditional friendship between the two countries and identifying new areas for future cooperation.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government of Mongolia's commitment to expanding bilateral trade and economic ties, improving transport and logistics connectivity, attracting investment, and strengthening private sector cooperation. He also welcomed the successful convening of the first session of the Mongolia–Tajikistan Intergovernmental Commission, describing it as an important mechanism for advancing bilateral relations.
He noted that 11 cooperation documents were signed between the governments and relevant organizations during the visit, establishing a legal framework for expanding cooperation in trade, the economy, road transport, logistics, agriculture, veterinary services, light industry, and geology, and opening a new chapter in bilateral relations.
Prime Minister N.Uchral also highlighted opportunities to exchange expertise and implement joint projects in renewable energy, vocational and technical education, science, tourism, youth, and sports.
President Emomali Rahmon expressed his pleasure at returning to Mongolia and said he was confident that the agreements and cooperation documents signed during the visit would further strengthen the legal foundation of bilateral relations and give new momentum to practical cooperation.
He also commended Mongolia for hosting the 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP17).
Noting that Tajikistan commissioned its first hydroelectric power plant in 1956, President Rahmon highlighted his country's extensive experience in renewable energy development, and both sides expressed interest in expanding cooperation in the sector.
Prime Minister N.Uchral also noted that, under Mongolia's "Let’s Free" initiative, the country has established a legal framework allowing foreign banking and financial institutions to operate in Mongolia.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the longstanding friendship between Mongolia and Tajikistan, expanding mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation, and welcomed the successful organization of the Mongolia–Tajikistan Business Roundtable.
