The organizers of Miss Grand International 2026 have yet to issue an official statement regarding the controversy over Chinese contestant Amber Yuhan representing Mongolia, while preparations and activities for the event have continued.
The Embassy of Mongolia in Bangkok has issued a statement regarding Amber Yuhan’s participation in the pageant, which was held in Bangkok, Thailand, from September 18 to October 10, 2026.
The Embassy said it had formally contacted the event organizer, Miss Grand International Public Company Limited (MGI PCL), and its CEO, Nawat Itsaragrisil, on multiple occasions, demanding an immediate halt to the unauthorized use of Mongolia’s name, national flag, and traditional attire, along with a formal explanation.
The Embassy’s demands were based on two key points: that the participant in question is not a Mongolian citizen and that Mongolia had neither selected nor officially designated a representative for the Miss Grand International 2026 pageant.
According to the Embassy, the organizers acknowledged receipt of its requests and said they would verify the participant’s citizenship and nationality and conduct an internal review of the relevant documents.
The organizers reportedly stated that an investigation was underway and that an official conclusion would be provided to the Embassy. However, the Embassy said it had yet to receive that conclusion.
In its statement, the Embassy emphasized that it would continue working through the appropriate channels to resolve the issue.
